Worn by those who dare to seek out new horizons
We partner with sailors and explorers who think outside of the box, who forge their own path and who look to the sea for their answers.
The Golden Globe Race(link) encapsulates the very best of the sport for us: it's about endurance and round the world racing. It is the ultimate test of amateur sporting spirit, conquering cold, moving mountains in the opean ocean, and in our opinion it attracts the very best type of adventure-nutter. Ian Herbert-Jones is one such nutter. TeamO is proud to be joining the HJ Sailing campaign as an Equipment Partner, supplying our 275N Ocean BackTow Lifejackets for Ian and his crew.
Ian has already logged a huge number of ocean miles, and in his own words, "for me, it's always been about the Deep South - the challenge of the Southern Ocean and Cape Horn." Having found himself at the finish line of the 2019 Golden Globe Race in France, he bought Puffin, Istvan Koper's boat which came 4th in the 2018 edition of the race and set about refitting it. With the 2022 GGR as his goal there is plenty to do to get ready and get to the start line.
From Ian's perspective, "Being at sea, moving only with the power of the wind helps me readjust to a more human pace. When you haven’t seen another boat or a plane for days on end, that puts it all back into perspective for me, you realise you’re just a tiny dot on a huge ocean."
We will be following Ian's progress to the start line with regular updates here.
